International expansion I: Mountain Apollo India

Mountain Partners follows its internationalization strategy through the setup of a new accelerator in India. In line with Mountain Partners’ already existing activities in China and Brazil, the entity aims at rolling out proven business models mainly in the ICT and e-commerce field. For this purpose, a partnership with Apollo International Group has been established. Apollo Group is a leading global industry conglomerate, headquartered in Delhi, India.  The first project of Mountain Apollo India is expected to be launched in fall 2012.

International expansion II: Mountain Middle East

Together with its strategic investor Flag Holding, Mountain Partners formed Mountain Partners Middle East (MPME) in Abu Dhabi. Similar to the above described business model Mountain Apollo India, MPME will also focus on the incubation and acceleration of online and e-commerce startups. The strategic partnership between Mountain Partners and Flag Holding was announced last month (see Mountain Views No. 6). Flag Holding is a dynamic and progressive private equity house based in Abu Dhabi and founded by some of the most distinguished business leaders in the United Arab Emirates.

Mr. Juerg Stucki elected President of Mountain Club

Juerg Stucki becomes President of the Board of Directors of Mountain Club AG. For more than three decades, Juerg has made an outstanding career within the Swiss banking sector. He has been holding several leading positions at UBS AG. Most recently, he has been responsible for UHNWI customers in Germany and Austria as part of the wealth management international team. Juerg is a well known and ingrained expert of the entrepreneurial eco system and startup scene in Switzerland. He holds functions at various committees, such as the KTI, a governmental commission for technology and innovation based in Bern. Juerg will support significantly to promote the Mountain Club concept in Switzerland and strenghten the team around CEO Peter E. Braun with a focus on networking activities.

Dr. Andreas Albath strengthens RegioHelden team

Stuttgart based RegioHelden GmbH gets support by former telegate CEO Dr. Andreas Albath. Thus, the innovative startup gains an experienced manager with profound knowledge in development and commercialization of internet services for small and medium-sized companies. Mr. Albath emphasized his commitment by an equity investment into the company. For more than a decade, Mr. Albath has been working for telegate AG, a leading supplier of local search and information services with more than 1.500 employees worldwide. He is a member of board of directors and supervisory board of numerous media companies. RegioHelden provides measurable online marketing services to small- and medium-sized business customers by placing ads on search engines such as Google as well as by optimizing websites.

Mountain do Brasil's second start-up Superlead.com.br launches

Even more good news about RegioHelden: Its Latin American incubation Superlead is launched under the roof of Mountain do Brasil. The company is modeled after the German prototype and aims to tacle the gap in Brazilian local online marketing for micro, small and medium sized businesses. Superlead enables its clients to outsource online advertising while maintaining a reasonably low monthly ticket. The product is highly transparent and allows precise call tracking allowing businesses to calculate exact customer acquisition costs and ROIs. Superlead also offers a white-label product that allows media partners to add a new and innovative product to their portfolio. Superlead's technology and processes backbone, based on RegioHelden's own, allows for high automisation and optimisation of campaigns ensuring high scalability of the business model.

The founders Johannes Noebels, Peter Propper and Bruno Torres and a team of 6 core staff operate out of São Paulo. The initial learnings are that Superlead is able to generate highly qualified leads and that Brazilian SMBs are willing to pay for the product.

SWISSCROSS Foundation

Dr. Enrique Steiger’s speech at the EntrepreneursDay in March touched many of our guests.
